But the fire is so delightfull

I actually don't have a fireplace, which I miss this time of year. But I do have a finished quilt. Ready?

Well the weather outside is frightfull

Not much sewing here! But I hope to do some this afternoon and this evening. Finishing my "little Lion cub" quilt for Fedde which I'll give him for christmas. But I'm sewing on the binding and I want to do a little embroidering, so that's mostly couch work in front of the TV. (which I love to do) It always surprises me how much work the binding is. You think you're almost finished, but than I spent at least two evnings sewing the binding to the back of the quilt by hand. Even a crib quilt. I looked at some "all machine binding" tutorials, but got scared. I don't dislike it, so back to the needle. I did finish some sweatpants for Fedde with the made Pattern.

I have a serious todo list however. For christmas I wanted to make:
- some small handmade gifts; I'm thinking potholders, maybe these from Keyka Lou, or a little zip case for earbuds from dog under my desk.
- a bagpack for Morritz to take to school. I'm thinking this one, by Made by Rae.
- Some dresses for my little nieces, from van katoen
- a bedcover for my niece Emma.
Since I have to work the coming two weeks, the chances of finnishing all these are very small...
Just after Christmas I need to finish a big boys quilt for Twan's birthday and my moder 4x5 blocks. Soo it seems I have to stop talking and start sewing.
I included some foto's of getting the house chistmassy, with my two little"helpers.

busy basting

I have to confess I hate basting. Another thing I hate is doing more projects and leaving "open ends". So if it comes to basting; I stall. But I won't start other big things because than I leave an open end. So what happens, I don't do much at all. After a busy weekend with "Sinterklaas" Fedde is asleep, Morritz is trying out all of his new toys at once and I faced it. I had to do some basting. Basting with needle and thread I hate and the pins don't like me or my quilts. Basting spray is very expensive in the netherlands and hard to get + I'm afraid with my 2 left hands the whole room will stick afterwards. So I bought myself a very expensive basting "gun", which shoots tags through all layers which you can cut away later, it's pretty fun to do and also quick and effective. You buy the "gun" once and later on you only have to buy the tags which are affordable. In the netherlands you can buy it in most quiltshops and online for example here.

"the basting gun"
Today it went pretty smooth! I think I will handquilt it with cobalt blue following the pattern. I like to handquilt projects when they are not to big and for my little one it seems the right thing.

Dus voor mijn eigen kleine man.... Ik denk aan cobalt blauw.
